Connect your RStudio Account#
To publish content to RStudio Connect, you need to connect your RStudio IDE to RStudio Connect to authorize the IDE to use your RStudio Connect account.
There are two methods to connect your account:
- Method 1 - Global Options: The Publishing Accounts configuration located in Global Options...
- Method 2 - Publishing Workflow: Using the Publish button
These procedures assume that you haven't connected your RStudio Connect account to the RStudio IDE.
Method 1 - Global Options#
- Open the RStudio IDE.
- From the menu bar, select Tools > Global Options....
- Select the Publishing tab and click Connect....
- In the Connect Account window, select RStudio Connect.

Enter the public URL of the RStudio Connect Server and click Next.
A browser window launches.
Tip
The public URL for RSC is the URL that you use to connect to RStudio Connect in your browser.

If you are not already logged into RStudio Connect, then log in.
- From the Connect to R page, click Connect.
A success message displays at the top of the screen.
- Navigate back to the RStudio IDE Verifying Account window and click Connect
Account.
Your RStudio Account displays in the Publishing Accounts section.
- Click OK.
You've successfully connected your account and can now publish directly to RStudio Connect.
Method 2 - Publishing Workflow#
This method uses the Publishing Workflow that kicks off when you click the Publishing button in the RStudio IDE.
- Open the RStudio IDE.
- Click the Publish button.
- In the Publish window, click RStudio Connect.
- Next, from the What do you want to publish? panel, select one of the following:
- Publish just this document
- Publish all documents in the directory

From the Publish to RStudio Connect panel, select one of the following:
- Publish document with source code
- Publish finished document only
Note
For these procedures, we recommend selecting Publish document with source code.

In the Connect Publishing Account window, click Next.

Enter the public URL of the RStudio Connect Server and click Next.
A browser window launches.

- From the Connect to R page, click Connect.
